Not only was he one of the best bosses ever, he was a very integral part in the growth of the Philadelphia HC scene early on. Before the internet you had to go to shows to buy HC records. Very Distro was the table to hit up when you went to the First Unitarian Church in Philly. No matter what I would always make sure Very had table space, even if the bigger bands were pissed off about having a distro to compete with at a show they were playing. It was that important to kids to have that outlet for new music.
Very grew to be a very large warehouse on American & Susquehanna in “the Badlands” in north Philadelphia. I worked there for a year with some good friends, and I can honestly say it was one of the most fun jobs I ever had. My favorite memory is Dudeck laughing uncontrollably at me when I was standing on a desk with a phone headset impersonating the singer from The Juliana Theory while singing at the top of my lungs “now y
ou’re standing on your soapbox yelling from the rooftops! THE ROOFTOPS!”
